One of the great things about modern mobile phones is that they have great cameras. I am a bit of an amateur photographer and do own an expensive Canon DSLR, lenses and other bits and pieces, but the most photographic moments of Murdo don’t happen when I happen to have my fancy camera in my hand, and they don’t last long enough to run and get it. My iPhone is never very far away, and although the photos are never as high quality as the ones I can take with my “big camera”, they are some of the most precious moments in Murdo’s beginnings — so I don’t care about the technical quality of the photo.
There are loads of great free apps for both iOS and Android phones these days, packed full of presets and sophisticated image editing tools, my favourite is VSCO Cam (available for both iOS and Android devices).
In the words of photographer Chase Jarvis “The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You” in his book of the same name, and it’s especially true when it comes to capturing the best moments with a new baby.
